'Nightcall'

Lyrics:
Excuse me for a while
While I'm wide-eyed
And I'm so damn caught in the middle
I've excused you for a while
While I'm wide-eyed
And I'm so damn caught in the middle
And a lion, a lion roars would you not listen?
If a child, a child cries would you not forgive them?
Yeah, I might seem so strong
Yeah, I might speak so long
I've never been so wrong
Yeah, I might seem so strong
Yeah, I might speak so long
I've never been so wrong
Excuse me for a while,
Turn a blind eye
With a stare caught right in the middle
Have you wondered for a while
I have a feeling deep down
You're caught in the middle?
If a lion, a lion roars would you not listen?
If a child, a child cries would you not forgive them?
Yeah, I might seem so strong
Yeah, I might speak so long
Might never been so wrong
Yeah, I might seem so strong
Yeah, I might speak so long
Might never been so wrong
Excuse me for a while
While I'm wide-eyed
And I'm so damn caught in the middle
Have you wondered for a while
I have a feeling deep down?
You're caught in the middle
Yeah, I might seem so strong
Yeah, I might speak so long
Might never been so wrong
Yeah, I might seem so strong
Yeah, I might speak so long
Might never been so wrong
Synopsis:
This music promo would be best described as a concept video, as the message behind the video is obscure. Throughout the video a continuous pan between location establishes the next scene.
Camera work:
The video begins with an extreme long shot of the 3 artist. They appear to be stood in a field at night with a beam of light shinning down on them. This shot then begins to zoom closer before the shot quickly pans to the left to show a young girl sat solitude on a swing. The shot then continues to pan past the girl and across to an old looking red car with its lights left on. As the shot zooms out slightly a silhouette of a man is shown stood frozen in front of the car. It then becomes clear that all the shots are stills because the people are all frozen still. The video then pans quickly across to a close up of the lead singer, Hannah Reid. It then zooms out to move the focus onto the other two performers, Dan Rothman and Dominic 'Dot' Major. As the music builds the shot pans right to reveal a caravan with a woman sat inside with all the lights on.
The video then moves to a shot of a group of people standing around a fire, it pans slowly across than quickly back past the caravan and back to the performers. The songs than slows as it pans past the band to a group of grey and white horse. As the songs begins to build back up again a horse from the group escapes and starts to run, then the others follow. The shot tracks the horses until they get to the caravan, but this time the caravan appears to be on fire, as smoke it coming out of the windows.
The video then pans back to the band an slowly zooms in as the song fades.
Mise-en-scene:
Setting
It is uncertain where the video is filmed. The video is continuously moving from a girl on a swing to an outside shot of a caravan. This unclear setting helps to create the concept music video. Also the video's mystery helps to communicate the band's genre being indie/ alternative.
Costume
The only clear costume is the artist themselves. They appear to be wearing ordinary clothes, they all appear to be wearing either grey or black. This could been a deliberate decision by the record label to help communicate the dark mystery of the music promo.
Lighting
The video is very dark throughout, which helps to communicate that the song is a sad song.
Editing:
The video is very cleverly edited, as there is no cuts in the entire video. The video is one continuous pan.
