Sophie Frances Cooke (born 27 June 1993), better known as Frances, is a singer-songwriter originally from Newbury, Berkshire,England.
In August 2014 she was the featured artist for the track "Fire May Save You" for the French music label Kitsuné. The single was released as part of an EP which contained remixes of the same track. In July 2015 she released the EP "Grow" for Communion Records. In October 2015 she released the EP "Let it Out". In November 2015 she was shortlisted for the 2016 BRIT Awards: Critics' Choice Award. In December 2015 she was nominated for the BBC Sound of 2016.
Frances genre covers a variety including pop, indie, folk and soul. I would personally describe Set sail as more indie rather than pop as it is a lot slower than her other songs. She has only ever produced 6 singles, 3 of which have music video.
While watching her music videos it is clear to see that she usually uses performance videos.
'Let it out'- Performance video

The video we see Frances playing the piano while singing in an empty white room. The focus is clearly on Frances throughout the video.
'Say it again'- Performance video/ concept

In this music promo the director has chosen to combined performance and concept, by use of Frances playing the piano while the piano lyrics come to life.
'Don't worry about me'- Narrative

'Don't worry about me' takes a different approach by having a narrative. The video starts with an old man in a waiting room, he then goes into a room and sees (who we assumed to be his wife). At the end of the video the man wakes in panic to realise his wife has passed. The use of a narrative for this video makes the song more powerful.
