The 1975 are an English rock band originating from Wilmslow, Cheshire. The group consists of Matthew Healy (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Adam Hann (lead guitar), Ross MacDonald (bass), and George Daniel (drums).
The band's origins trace to them attending Wilmslow High School and playing together as teenagers in 2002. They eventually signed record deals after success with Dirty Hit and Polydor.
They have released four EPs and two albums. Their self-titled debut was released on 2 September 2013 through Dirty Hit and Polydor, topping the UK Albums Chart on 8 September. Their sophomore album I like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it was released on 26 February 2016, topping both the UK Chart and the US Billboard 200.
Lyrics
So I heard you found
somebody else
And at first I thought it was a lie
I took all my things that make sounds
The rest I can do without
And at first I thought it was a lie
I took all my things that make sounds
The rest I can do without
I don't want your
body
But I hate to think about you with somebody else
Our love has gone cold
You're intertwining your soul with somebody else
But I hate to think about you with somebody else
Our love has gone cold
You're intertwining your soul with somebody else
I'm looking through
you while you're looking through your phone
And then leaving with somebody else
No, I don't want your body
But I'm picturing your body with somebody else
And then leaving with somebody else
No, I don't want your body
But I'm picturing your body with somebody else
Come on baby
This ain't the last time that I'll see your face
Come on baby
You said you'd find someone to take my place
This ain't the last time that I'll see your face
Come on baby
You said you'd find someone to take my place
Oh I just don't
believe that you have got it in you cause
We are just gonna keep "doin' it" and everytime
I start to believe in anything you're saying
I'm reminded that I should be getting over it
We are just gonna keep "doin' it" and everytime
I start to believe in anything you're saying
I'm reminded that I should be getting over it
I don't want your
body
But I hate to think about you with somebody else
Our love has gone cold
You're intertwining your soul with somebody else
But I hate to think about you with somebody else
Our love has gone cold
You're intertwining your soul with somebody else
I'm looking through

And then leaving with somebody else
No, I don't want your body
But I'm picturing your body with somebody else
And then leaving with somebody else
No, I don't want your body
But I'm picturing your body with somebody else
Get someone you love?
Get someone you need?
Fuck that
Get money
I can't give you my soul
Cause we're never alone
[4x]
Get someone you need?
Fuck that
Get money
I can't give you my soul
Cause we're never alone
[4x]
I don't want your
body
But I hate to think about you with somebody else
Our love has gone cold
You're intertwining your soul with somebody else
But I hate to think about you with somebody else

But I'm picturing your body with somebody else
Synopsis
The video is best described as a conceptual video as there is no fixed story line and it has a obscure ending. The video follows lead singer Matt Healy as the synth-tipped song plays, Healy progresses through a pretty terrible day, where heartbreak and tears rule. In the clip, he spends time trying to get over someone in solitude on deserted streets or in the back of a car, but when he isn't alone, things only get worse. He's beaten up after leaving a bar, he hooks up with a stripper, and generally in each scenario he encounters there are elements of self-obsession as well as feelings of isolation.
The video then jumps back to each location but the people who were staring at him are himself. The video ends with a mash up of shot of Mathew acting drunk on his own.
Lyric analysis:
While he was away on tour he found out that his girl had found someone else. Even though he does not want to be with her he can’t imagine her with someone other than himself. Although he may not want her body perhaps she had an emotional impact on him. He rejects needing someone to feel fulfilled with himself. The music video goes over the concept of him being with someone would just enhance the experience. Being with someone cannot always fill what you are missing. Alternatively the lyrics could be interpreted as meaning it is difficult to be intimate with someone anymore due to the digital culture, and it’s isolating nature.
